Road Trip Romania
Romania

We loved our time in Romania in 2017 and look forward to re-visiting in the future.  We had no problems with wild camping/free camping through the whole country and thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Cake and Eat it 3 blog post of our 2017 trip is available here.  Along with the following youtube 5 part series.

Spending time with our good friends in Romania

Our good friends were staying in the Transylvania region while we were there. We have been friends for over 20 years and met in multiple countries. Our children have grown up and also met in multiple countries! To explore Eva’s home town with them was so special.  They have a deep connection to the area and we may or may not, have looked at property while we were there!!

As you can imagine, Romania is extremely affordable and easily accessible and beautiful fresh food in spring and summer.

If you are after a long term accommodation option we came across a beautiful option in Odorheiu Secuiesc.

We were fortunate enough to drive the Transfagarsan, which is a paved mountain road crossing the southern section of the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. It has national-road ranking and is the second-highest paved road in the country after the Transalpina. It starts near the village of Bascov, near Pitești, and stretches 90 kilometres (56 mi) to the crossroad between the DN1 and Sibiu, between the highest peaks in the country, Moldoveanu and Negoiu.

This was a highlight of our time in Romania.  We were also lucky enough to meet a man travelling with his daughter the same age as Miss B and travelled together for a week. We are now close friends and have caught up in three countries and counting!

Happy Travels!
