Superpit Tour Kalgoorlie

Free tour of superpit

We have spent quite a bit of time in Kalgoorlie now and are really enjoying it!

Educational Worksheets kids
Kalgoorlie Kids Travel Worksheet

There is so much to do here, I put together an 11 page Kids Travel Worksheet on Coolgardie, Kalgoorlie & Boulder and it is proving popular!

What a great stop after going across the Nullarbor, freshen up and do the washing. Do some educational activities with the kids, there is a lot of them in Kalgoorlie!

Firstly and foremost for planning purposes, by far the biggest thing everyone comes to Kalgoorlie to see is the Superpit.

Now I am going to tell you how to get a tour, for FREE.  No kidding, not a brass razoo for the whole family!

Boulder Markets – you will want to go to these markets!

On the third Sunday of every Month they have the Boulder Markets held along historic Burt Street, which should be on your list of things to see too.  Handicrafts, beautiful buildings, great family day out.

The best bit! By attending these markets, you can register for FREE to do a one hour Superpit Tour!  Wahoo.  Now I would get there early so you ensure you don’t miss out.  They start at 9am and finish at 1pm – HOWEVER the last tour leaves at 10:45am.  So if your in Kalgoorlie-Boulder on the 3rd Sunday of the Month you can’t miss it.  Write in your diary!

Safety Gear Superpit Tour

Really well organised.  Yes you can look stylish in your high visibility vest, safety glasses and sweat (just kidding air conditioned bus) in long sleeves and long pants for the duration of the tour!

It is really interesting seeing everything supersized and learning about the amount of money it takes to run.

Great information we took away from the tour and why doing the grocery shopping will never be the same again, we learned;

1ltr of water = 1kg

1ltr of gold = 20kg

Therefore, a 3ltr milk is 60kg in gold!

Things to do in Kalgoorlie
Kalgoorlie Superpit tour

There is enough underground tunnels in this area to stretch from Perth to Sydney without seeing daylight!! Yikes

Don’t take drugs, well that is a given really. But if you do and get tested or refuse to be tested, while working or even driving into this mine, BANNED for LIFE.

This is a 24 hours 7 days a week operation. Heavy rain thunder and lightening are the only things that shut this baby down. As you can guess, for safety.

The ground water here is SEVEN times more saltier than the ocean.

Each truck has at least six tyres, site has a six month supply of tyres and they are FORTY THOUSAND dollars each, I will never complain about the price of 4WD tyres again (well maybe).

It would take Ten tonne of rock to find enough gold for one wedding ring.
