Obviously, there are lots of other things I love or could take, depending on the style of travel.  But I wanted to keep it real, versatile for all sorts of travel and stuff that I really use, or that makes life easier on the road. In no particular order.

Some of these links may have an affiliate link, which if you use and buy may result in compensation in some way to us at no additional cost to you.

Power Bank

Pretty obvious what this one does.  It comes in really handy, especially if you are a travelMothers Day Gift Ideas blogger!  But also, can be a safety benefit too.  They all have/offer different capabilities so read the specifications carefully.  Mine is a 6600 mAh does three charges of my samsung mobile phone.

Can not tell you how many times this has saved the day, especially while free camping and charging is limited. Buy one here or maybe upgrade to the 15000 mAh they are so affordable these days.

Tesalate Sand Free Towels – the perfect travel Mothers day gift

Better still it is designed in Australia!  If mum is keen on sunbaking, she is going to love this, when done pick up shake sand just falls off!

This means no sand in your luggage or vehicle if roadtripping.

PJ’s or Pyjamas (suitable for being seen in public)

When you travel you ideally want something you can make a toilet dash in and drink your morning coffee outside enjoying the scenery while not scaring the nearby campers.

Generally, cotton is best (not silky as they sweat and show EVERY mark) and best if they are a darker colour, if your mum is a roadtripper.  Pants or shorts are more suitable, more flexible with climate and mum’s preferred seating position.

Haven’t found the ideal ones yet.  Will keep you posted.  I use my thermals in cold climates.  New travel friendly pyjamas are on top of my list this year and the hinting has begun!

Selfie stick WITH tripod attachment

Even if you don’t like taking Selfies, it is so good to have EVERYONE in the photo, the whole family.  There are many different options for this too.  You have to keep in mind what does she like to take photos with.

I use my samsung the most and this is perfect for that.  At first I did not know how often I would use it and I got sick of trying to fit everyone in a selfie, especially when we were in amazing destinations.

Now I am really glad, especially when it is only your family at some  remote places and you want to capture your travels. I have a Cygnett (as pictured) which are available from JB Hifi, Myer and Target I believe.  Make sure you get one with a bluetooth remote.

Sarong

Available everywhere and a must have item for mum’s that travel.

Use as a backup towel, keeping sun off, covering shoulders when going into temples or churches. Great at the beach, to and from shower block, cover sleeping kids or personal belongings for safety, hide bright lights on trains or planes when trying to sleep.

Compact, light, colourful and a great way to remember who gave you such a useful gift (YOU!!)

Headphones (good quality ones)

Priceless, great on planes, running, audio books – you name it these are a must have.  I have two sets.  One is a pair of blueant wireless bluetooth headphones, really good quality and I love them for running.  And I already owned a pair of Sennheiser with jack headphones that are really good quality for planes, audio tours (we use a splitter and save money on headsets hire)

Camps 10 – Camps Australia Wide free camping bible

It is no secret we LOVE our Camps Australia Wide, Camps 10 which includes maps, free

Camps Australia Wide – Camps 10

camping, roadside rest stops and dump points.

This has been an important tool in over 20 years of travel in Australia. A MUST have, if roadtripping Australia.

A great souvenir to hold onto, add comments of your travels to share with other travellers you meet up with and reminisce after arriving home.

There is also other great products on offer that you can find out more about Camps Australia Wide.

Camping shower PRESSURISED

No secret we LOVE the Quechua solar pressurised camping shower.  They are available from Decathlon and well worth the money.  Packs down flat when not in use.  Good quality and the best bit, any mum with long hair will LOVE you.

Of course she already loves you, but once she is camping or travelling and uses this shower she will LOVE LOVE you.  We use ours whichever rig we are in, saves water and can also be used to clean the car, feet and dishes outside.

Hanging toiletry bag

I am just about to replace ours, a Ricardo Beverley Hills and it is over 10 years old!  Perfect travel accessory and you can buy one with a bit of bling, like one I bought my eldest daughter or just go practical – depending on your mum!  They are invaluable for ALL sorts of travel.  You don’t leave anything behind, mum will never forget her razor again.

Everything tidy in one place.  Available at all luggage stores and online.  Important must have side pockets, hook and multiple compartments to separate hair items, deodorant, suncream, mozzie cream and anything else mum needs. I am looking at this one.

Bum bag / fanny pack

OK, so they got a terrible name but they are amazing.  Especially overseas travel, all the  Mothers Day Giftnecessities especially with kids at arms reach.  It also means you get to sneak a bit more on the plane without affecting your carry on luggage limit!  I always take the items below with me on the plane along with my earphones for movies.

Great for that time of the month too, without causing a fuss getting and/or discreetly taking your carryon luggage with you to the ladies. I have had my current one for 13 years! Bought it in Egypt and had such fun bartering for it – great memories! Not leather, it will sweat against your skin.  Multiple compartments, not just one zipper.

Nearly time to look at replacing it too and looking at something exactly the same as my current one.

If you want to put together a little gift basket with all things travel (great gift idea) add any of the following items

Paw Paw cream – great for chapped lips, healing scratches

Pack of Travel Tissues – perfect on a plane, train, for emergencies (runny/blood noses)

Bandaids – keep unexpected cuts clean, blisters from hiking

Mentos or chewy sweet – Take off and landing of the airplane and long travel days in cars, trains

Personalised Pen or Quote about how much you love them – great for custom forms, writing notes on photos taken

Small notepad – for taking down notes on travel, photos she takes, taking down names and addresses of people she meets and writing down all the great ideas you have when travelling

Whatever you give your mum I am sure she will love it! I love my girls and only ever ask for hugs and kisses (hoping this year I get those hug s and kisses, while wearing new pyjamas too (just quietly)
