Bathroom Tips for motorhomes and caravans RV’s and campervans, this is part of our Life on the road series.
It may seem pretty obvious what is needed in here! But, this is a reasonable size room, when you take into consideration the size of the whole rig. It is therefore, important to use as much of it as possible.
See our youtube video of bathroom tips here.
Every van or motorhome is different and you have to work with what you have got.
There are always ways to gain more storage, make the space more useable and a place to add hooks and rails.
As we show you in the youtube video, there is no such things as too many hooks or rails in our case.
When we bought our motorhome we thought someone had gone crazy adding two more curtain rails to the bathroom ceiling.
These have turned out to be invaluable! Hanging wet clothes, towels and the shower curtain to make sure the bottom edge dries properly.
Extra hooks, wherever you can fir them in your bathroom, will be worth their weight in gold when you have your first extended wet weather.
Most full-time travellers like to chase the sun but it is inevitable at some point, your going to hit wet weather.
By having hooks, rails as described above you can hang damp or wet clothing when you don’t have access to driers or sun!
Sistema containers as a storage option in the bathroom. We store our toilet chemicals and toilet paper in them so they stay dry no matter what. They also keep the bathroom tidy, which is a bonus.
Those with small kids may appreciate this extra so, with wild bathroom antics worthy of a visit to a water park and aim with little ones on the loo!
Our 20ltr Washing machine/ bucket get’s stored here, which doubles as the washing basket too.
I have a whole post on washing on the road here.
We have a pressurised camping shower which we use in our shower cubicle to ensure more efficient water usage. It holds 8 litres of water, flat packs if not in use and is easy to fill up when out and about in the car for later use.
Water use on the road is very important, using it, finding it and ensuring your careful with it, can extend your ability to free camp for longer periods dramatically.
Finding ways to conserve water wherever you can, is a very good habit to get into.
I also keep my one size fits all natural (no chemicals) cleaning spray bottle in here too.
For full details check out our cleaning post.
As you can see, it may be just a bathroom but it is so much more when on the road fulltime.
