Westways Wildflower Farm, Western Australia

While out exploring the Wildflowers of Western Australia  we came across Westways Wildflower Farm and 4WD trails, only 2.5 hours from Perth!

Clive & Maureen have owned Westways Wildflowers, a 2000ha rural property, for over 40 years!!

Great to get our 4WD offroad

You can do a day trip, take the 4WD wildflower trail for $10.00 per adult (kids free).  The trail is 12km and does have some soft sand areas, so 4WD is a must.  If you don't have a 4WD you can hire the Westways Ute for $10 to complete the trail.

Westways is a working farm and supplies Japan with dried wildflowers, which you can see on arrival.

Another fascinating thing to check out while your there, Yallalie Meteorite Crater. Yep, on the farm land there is a meteor crater.  The basin is about 12km in diameter.  You can learn more about it at the office and Clive & Maureen when checking in or before going at the link provided above.

On arrival you will be given a map and directions to the camping area and/or trail.

Wildflowers of Western Australia Checklist

I loved trying to identify all the wildflowers I found in Western Australia.  This is a checklist I put together with the more common wildflowers and orchids you may see while wildflower hunting.  I will add more as I find more!

Camping Area – Make a weekend of it

This is a fantastic family weekend away from Perth.  You can camp on the farm for $10.00 a vehicle and there is a drop toilet.  The camp area is basic, suitable for tents, camper trailers and offroad caravans all with 4WD.

There is a picnic table and fire pit area (in fire season only).

What can you expect to see

Scarlet Featherflower

In all honesty, it will be different, depending on when you visit.  We were there in mid August and were not disappointed.  In my opinion the best time to visit would be September.

Apart from the great time learning about drying wild flowers and getting sexy animal footprintsbeast (4WD) off road a bit. It was great, that we were able to see a Scarlet featherflower which was late for them to still be out!

They have had 200 varieties of flowers that have been identified. Also, you may have the opportunity to see a kangaroo or emu.  We certainly saw a very large footprint of an emu while there!!
