Camps Australia Wide  Camps 11

Call us old fashion but we still LOVE a hard copy Map.  Therefore can not go past our Travel Bible Camps Australia Wide which if you can believe it is now 11th Edition!!  There is over 5,000 verified sites in there with GPS co-ordinates, all personally checked and updated daily.  We have had this publication for many many years.

Now to be exact, we actually like the B4 edition Camps 11 (it is available in an A4 too) and we have made so many notes in our previous copy that have been shared with other travellers, normally over drinks.  Anything from the best pie shop or burger joint, to avoiding in certain seasons due to access, good wineries down the road (all the important stuff!!)  In all seriousness, we do write seafood seasons, rate it based on our requirements, seasonal work that we know comes up nearby, Friends we met at these locations which as we are fulltime are very helpful when we are heading through those areas again.

For those of you doing a lap of Australia, this makes a wonderful souvenir when you return home.  You will always remember where you stayed on your trip, which you always get asked on your return home.  The battery can’t go flat and for future route planning there is no substitute!

So – Must have a Camps 11 by Camps Australia Wide, an Australian company, another reason to love em’.

Camps Australia Wide App

Camps Australia Wide App – pretty obvious everything that is in the above, but all on your phone! Available in Iphone and Android.  They have relatively new owners of Camps Australia wide and they are passionate in their desire to deliver the complete Australia Camping solution of Apps, Maps/Books, books and Point of Interest for navigational systems. They are listening to what travellers need and want and investing the time, money and development in their products to be No. 1.

They have our vote and have been part of our must have list from the beginning so we are pretty excited watching this go from strength to strength. Check them out on Apple itunes and Google Playstore or contact them  here.

Wikicamps

Another caravan parks, campsites, dump point, rest areas App, it is kept up to date by users of the app.

It is a well known resource by travellers and like Camps Australia Wide they offer offline maps making it easier to navigate in remote areas where signal can be sketchy.

You can see the site name, distance from you, icons show the site’s features (like toilets, showers, pet friendly, etc), as well as the site’s user rating.

You can also use the site filters to narrow down your results and only show sites relative to your needs.
Eg. Has toilets, is pet friendly, etc

Available on Apple itunes and Google Playstore

Maps.me

An offline maps app that we use both in Australia and overseas.  This is an extremely helpful App.  You can pinpoint your location or the vehicle (handy when prospecting, hiking, bushwalking, or at new shopping centres lol) and go off exploring.  When it is time to go back to the vehicle/your accommodation just hit the pin you placed and it will guide you back – ALL offline.  So helpful, particularly in areas where there is no reception.  Available on Apple itunes and Google Play

Emergency +

‘Emergency +’ is a national app developed by Australia’s emergency services and their Government and industry partners, helping people to call the right number at the right time, anywhere in Australia.

The app uses a mobile phone’s GPS functionality so callers can provide emergency call-takers with their location information as determined by their smart phone. Must Have. Apple Itunes and Google Play.

Australian Bites & Stings

Australia is home to many of the world’s most venomous creatures (they are not trying to kill you I promise!) Learn more about Australia’s venomous creatures and what to do if you are bitten or stung. Download the Australian bites & stings app and be prepared before you head out into Australia’s great outdoors! Safety first on the road, be prepared. Available in Apple itunes and Google Play

Fuel Map

Fuel Map is a crowd-sourced database of petrol stations and fuel prices from all across Australia. All station information is added and edit by users like yourself.  You can also add current fuel prices which are then shared with other users of Fuel Map. Fuel Map also shows real-time fuel prices for WA, NSW, and QLD, sourced from government resources.  Also remember, check which memberships you have that offer fuel discounts (Coles Supermarket 4c off at Shell Express, RAC = 4c off PUMA fuel stations, Sharks Membership offer 4c off United Fuel Stations) It all adds up!! Available in Apple itunes and Google Play

Camscanner

Quite simply, this is absolutely a must.  We need to scan documents for all sorts of reason, business, schooling and this is nothing short of fantastic.

Scan docs into clear & sharp image/PDF, to email, fax, print or save to cloud.

So that is the MUST haves of Apps and Maps we take with us roadtripping.
