On day 13 of our Bibbulmun Track adventure, we went from Murray Hut to Dookanelly hut.
Met some awesome people last night and shared some stories of our experiences on the Bibbulmun Track.
Hit the track earlier than usual, the earliest we have so far due to the water quality being VERY average to terrible (to put it mildly).
By setting off early we can conserve what water we do have and arrive at Dookanelly hut at a reasonable time.
Nature is amazing
We crossed a variety of terrain today and some wonderful displays of nature.
Collections of leaves making the most amazing artistic patterns collected from water moving on the landscape.
Nature truly is amazing.
Arriving at Dookanelly hut
Setting off so early from Murray hut meant we arrived at Dookanelly hut at a very reasonable time and got to sit and relax, recharge devices and power banks.
The goal zero solar panel works much better when you are stationary.
It is so nice to relax and enjoy the huts, explore nature and the opportunity to give your muscles a chance to recover before another day of hiking.
We really liked this hut, we saw an amazing bee hive fight in a nearby tree. The noise was alarming at first until we found where it was coming from. Nature in action!
First non homemade dehydrated meal
It had to happen eventually and I did not go in with much hope of enjoying it, which may have affected the outcome.
We had a Back Country Beef Teriyaki meal tonight and it was not very enjoyable.
Not to mention on size, weight and packet/rubbish left over there is no comparison to our homemade dehydrated meals.
Secret Weapon for the ladies
Okay, so when you are hiking and things get uncomfortable or are hurting, you have to think outside the box for solutions. Miss B’s pack was rubbing on her bony shoulders and hips. We adjusted the straps and got the shoulders under control but the hips were causing a problem.
We both brought sports bras only on the hike as they are more comfortable, make changing easier in group situations and no underwires! So, most modern sports bras have padded inserts in them that a removable when you wash them.
I removed them from our sports bras, put one of our snoods (that were otherwise not being used anyway) around her waist and inserted the padded support on her hips and wahlah! Perfecto!! One happy hiker again.
